2006Cadet CPO1 Ryan Palmquist, 49 John Travers Cornwell, VC, RCSCC
Ryan has been active in all phases of cadet training.
He was selected for the position of Coxswain because he leads by example.
He is active in school plays and musicals.
He was a host when Senator Dallaire visited his school.
He has been a competitive curler since he was 12 and has a Bronze Medallion in swimming.
He is enrolled at the University of Winnipeg where he is studying political science.
Cadet CWO Jennifer McCall,
2701 PPCLI, RCACC

Jennifer has won the Duke of Edinborough Gold Medal and the Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence.
She is a member of her unit’s Drum Line and volunteers with the Pet Rescue Program.
She is the Regimental Sergeant Major of her unit and sets the example for dress and deportment.
For the past two summers she has participated in overseas exchange programs and has been an instructor at summer camps.
She is currently enrolled in a joint nursing program at Confederation College and Lakehead University.
Cadet WO 1 Harkiran Dhillon
170 St. James, RCACS

Harkiran has represented Manitoba at the National Effective Speaking Competition.
She has won the Air Force Association Medal and the Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence.
She visited Australia in the International Air Cadet Exchange program.
She was the Student Affairs Prefect for her school. She has competed at the World Public Speaking and Debating Championships in the USA.
She is the Minister of Public Relations for Youth Parliament of Manitoba and is a first year student at the University of Manitoba.
2007 Cadet CPO2 Matthew Yunik,
49 RCSCC John Travers Cornwell VC

Matthew has completed the Trade Group III and Staff Cadet Music Courses.
He was the 2006 Manitoba Northwestern Ontario Cadet of the Year.
He holds the position of Regulating Petty Officer for his corps.
He was an all-star with his school intramural football program.
He has been on Dean’s Honour Roll during his four years of high school.
He is an undergraduate at the University of Manitoba and plans to study Medicine.
Cadet MWO Ethan Wayne Kendrick
2328 Field Engineer Squadron, Flin Flon

Ethan has completed the Army Cadet Leader Instructor Course and is qualified as a Gold Star Cadet.
He was awarded the Lord Strathcona Medal and the Legion Medal of Excellence.
He earned the Gold Level in the Canada Fitness Test.
He is a member of the Hapnot Collegiate school council and volunteers with the dinner theatre productions.
He has plans for a career in law enforcement after he completes a degree in Criminology.
Cadet FSgt Victor Hashemian
220 Red River Squadron RCACS

Victor Hashemian has attended the International Exchange to Oshkosh and the Aerospace Camp.
He has won the St. James Legion Award.
He is an excellent instructor and leads by example.
He has earned the highest award for physical fitness and is a member of the University of Manitoba Judo Club.
He has tutored Mathematics and Science to some students at Kelvin High School and is the Vice President (Finance) of Junior Achievement.
He will attend the University of Manitoba to study Bio Systems Engineering.
2008 Cadet CPO Stephen Gnutel
25 Crusader RCSCC

Stephen is the Regulating Petty Officer of his unit.
He has been a qualified sailing instructor for three years and assists junior cadets.
He has participated in biathlon and sailing competitions.
He teaches and supervises skating at his community arena.
He is active in his church and is a former alter boy.
He is attending university and plans to eventually study law.
Cadet MWO Richard Monzon
1226 Fort Garry Horse RCACC

Richard is the Regimental Sergeant Major of his unit.
He supervises cadets both in local parades and field training exercises.
He has volunteered at many community events such as Rock Against Racism and Breast Cancer Research.
He has achieved the Gold level of physical fitness.
He is a musician and has sung the national anthem at Manitoba Moose games.
He is attending Brandon University where he is studying music.
Cadet FSgt Jessica Biggs
177 Air Canada Squadron RCACS

Jessica is a flight commander in her unit and instructs junior cadets.
She has participated in a number of community events such as World Women’s Hockey Championships and Remembrance Day services as a flag bearer.
She has been is a member of the biathlon team for five years and has won medals.
She is a qualified glider pilot.
She plans to become an aeronautical engineer.
2009 Cadet CPO2 Scott Durling,
213 QU’APPELLE, RCSCS

Scott has been in cadets for five years and has become a music instructor.
He was the team captain for his high school volleyball team, but his proudest moment was when his basketball team won the AAA City Basketball championship.
He is co-chair of his school’s Youth in Philanthropy program.
He has been on the Distinguished Honour Roll since 2003. He is a recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh award.
Scott will attend the University of Winnipeg in the integrated BA and BEd program. He plans to teach in the humanities.
Cadet WO Erin Harper,
2328 Field Engineer Cadet Squadron, RCACC, Flin Flon

Erin is the Squadron Sergeant Major for her unit.
She is a Gold Star cadet.
She has won the Lord Strathcona Medal and instructs junior cadets.
She is a member of her school council.
She is involved with her school band, basketball, track and field, cycling and swimming programs.
She has not made a final decision for her career path but is considering medicine.
Cadet WO2 Curtis Patrick Shonoski,
199 St. Vital Squadron, RCACS

Curtis is an honour student and a qualified glider pilot who has instructed cadets in aircraft handling, airport procedures and theory of flight.
He has participated in his school band program.
He has been a volunteer at the Manitoba Children’s Museum for the past four years.
Curtis plans to complete the University of Winnipeg and Red River College Bachelor of Education programs and then teach industrial arts.
