Cadet Chief Warrant Officer Sylvie Atkinson, 407 QOCH of C Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, will attend Briercrest College Kaleo beginning in September 2013. Her longer term plan is to enrol in the Canadian Forces under the Regular Officer Training Program. She has completed the army cadet star training program and received the Master Cadet Qualification. She was the top Silver Star and the top cadet in 2010. She has been awarded the Lord Strathcona Medal, Major-General Howard Award, the Legion Medal of Excellence, the Long Service Medal and the CIBC Community Service Award. She has been an aide de camp for the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba since 2012. Her community involvement includes serving on the student council for two years and as the Student Council President in 2013. She has also volunteered with the Ride for Refuge Initiative. She is the Regimental Sergeant-Major of her Corps. She sets a high standard and leads by example. She has participated in several outdoor fitness activities including a cross country run, and summer biathlon. For recreation she snowshoes, hikes, snowboards and has participated in ice climbing and backcountry skiing.
