2015 Flight Sergeant Fred Marean Award Recipient

Cadet FSgt Courtney Masson
6 Jim Whitecross, RCACS

Cadet FSgt Masson initially plans to study nursing at the University of Manitoba. After graduation she plans to work in that field for a few years before applying to study medicine.

She has enjoyed being a cadet and has been involved in the music program and has also gained experience at summer camps and instructing. She has completed both the Intermediate and Advanced Musician training courses. She was selected to be a member of the Cadet Honour Band and received the Top Band Cadet for two consecutive years.

She has completed the Bronze and Silver levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award and is currently working toward the Gold level.

She has been a neighbourhood canvasser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and volunteered with the Ste Rose Fire Department pancake breakfast, Remembrance Day Services, Lion's Club annual dinner plus a few others.

She is the Drum Major for her unit, and that gave her the opportunity to lead and teach the band twice a week.

She is currently taking Taekwondo training and expects to achieve a black belt level.
