Cadet PO1 George Gibson graduated from Grant Park High School and will attend the University of Manitoba Faculty of Arts where he hopes to study English Literature and History. He aspires to work in the public education system of Manitoba and help shape the youth of tomorrow.
As a Cadet he attended General Training at Quadra Sea Cadet Summer Training Centre as well as Intermediate and Advanced Music at Penhold Air Cadet Summer Training Centre and is a qualified Drum Major. He has been a member of the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Northwest) Honour Band for four years as the lead trumpet, as well as being the lead trumpet in his high school’s concert and jazz bands. He has received Marksmanship Level 1, Silver Fitness, Standard First Aid and is his Corps’ only qualified bugler.
His community volunteer activities include extensive work with the Ingolf Campers Association, Winnipeg Harvest and local cleanup crews in Winnipeg. He also assists the elderly in his neighbourhood.
Within his Cadet Unit, George has used his leadership skills as the Petty Officer of the band.
