Cadet WO2 Alexa Ilag

Cadet WO2 Ilag is a graduate of Garden City Collegiate and will attend the University of British Columbia this Fall where she will pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in political science with a minor in pre-law. Her goal is to be a civil rights lawyer.
She has completed General Training, Basic Drill and Ceremonial, Fitness and Sports Instructor courses receiving the Top Cadet Award in all three of these courses. She was also a staff member for the Fitness and Sports Instructor Course. She was the top overall Cadet in 2013, Top Level 4 Cadet in 2014 and top Senior NCO in 2015 and placed first in the local effective speaking competition.
She volunteers at the Shine a Light Program, Winnipeg Harvest and was the youngest recipient of the inaugural Governor General Caring Canadian Award this year. She also works with the Mennonite Central committee to help provide relief for Syrian refugees.
She is working towards her Bronze Level of the Duke of Edinburgh Award and has achieved her Excellence Proficiency Badge for the Cadet Fitness assessment. She has participated in the RCAF Marathon and is a ballet and hip-hop dancer and her dance team, “Reality Check” has achieved Gold Honours for the last four years in the Provincial Dance Festival.
Alexa is the Wing Warrant Officer for her unit.
