Cadet CPO2 Sarah King

Cadet CPO2 King is a graduate of Vincent Massey High School and will attend Brandon University where she will pursue an Arts Degree with a major in psychology and a minor in gender and women’s studies. She hopes to join the Royal Canadian Navy as an Officer and would like to be a social worker or a counselor.
She has completed General Training, Basic Drill and Ceremonial and Drill and Ceremonial Instructor courses. She has received awards for Top Marksman, Outstanding Leader, was awarded the Lord Strathcona Medal of Merit, the royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence and her Four Year Service Medal. In 2015 she did an International Cadet exchange in Japan and this year she attended a Seamanship Deployment onboard an Orca 55.
She has volunteered with Helping Hands Soup Kitchen, Samaritan House and the Christmas Cheer Board. She has volunteered at her school, helped raise money for a young child with cancer and has volunteered at the Victoria Landing Retirement Home.
She has participated in biathlon at the city and provincial level receiving a Bronze Medal in the Senior Individual Female category at the Stage III Provincial Biathlon competition. She also received a Bronze Academic-Athletic medal for placing second on her school’s Honour roll and participation on the school’s Varsity Rugby Team.
Sarah is currently the Coxswain of her corps and is heavily involved with the instruction and development of the younger Cadets.
