Cadet WO2 Ethan Patzer will be attending the University of Manitoba to follow his passion and earn a Bachelor of Computer Science Degree. He hopes to further his education with the aim of working in the field of server administration or programming. When he enters the work force, he plans to use his skillset to help his community.

He has completed the Basic Fitness Sports Course, placed second in his Squadron’s effective speaking competition and received the Silver Badge in the Provincial Effective Speaking Competition. He was also an expert Marksman and received the Top Cadet Level Award. He completed the Survival Instructors Course, received the Biathlon Silver Badge and the Top Level Cadet Award. In 2020 he received the Bronze Level Duke of Edinburgh Award and was awarded the Alen T. Hansen Trophy for “Influential leadership and inspiring others”. In 2021 he received the JM Koper Trophy. He served as a Flight Commander, and most recently, the Deputy Chief Warrant Officer responsible for the dress, drill, and deportment of his Squadron. While Flight Commander, his flight was “Top Flight” three out of four times.

Since 2016 he has been a volunteer at ‘The Urban’ which provides a safe haven, a sense of belonging and safety for anyone who needs it, serving the community with no restrictions, requirements or expectations. Serving his community however he can, will always be part of his life, whether through spending hours working with The Urban, volunteering through the Air Cadet program, or by supporting organizations with his computer science knowledge.

He maintains his physical fitness through many activities such as the Ride for Refuge Bikeathon, which he has completed numerous times. He also Completed a 60 km bike ride as part of his Bronze Level Duke of Edinburgh Award requirements. He also ran the CIBC Run for the Cure Marathon, participated in Biathlon attending the Provincial Competition and was a member of his school’s badminton team.
