Cadet WO2 Vrinda K Vyas

Cadet WO2 Vrinda Vyas will be attending the University of British Columbia where she will be working towards her Bachelor of Science Degree to pursue her long-term goal of becoming either a Doctor or a Lawyer. She hopes to start a non-government organization that is specifically oriented to helping women and those of the LGBTQ+ community who have been wronged by society.
She was awarded the Top Cadet award in 2016. She attended the Basic Drill and Ceremonial Training and Drill and Ceremony Instructor Training at Vernon Cadet Training Centre. She commanded her Squadron Flag Party and Squadron Drill Team. She has also been awarded the Five-Year Service Medal. In her Squadron she had responsibility for about 80 Cadets. She led a team of six Senior Cadets to organize a virtual Mess Dinner and Scavenger Hunt for over 165 Cadets. She strives to improve her leadership ability every day.
In her community she has volunteered at Riverwood Square Retirement Living and assisted with their Remembrance Day Ceremonies for the last three years. She volunteered at the Golden Links Lodge Retirement Home as a COVID support worker and recreational assistant. She also volunteers at Dakota Community Centre. As Student Council Vice President she created an online newspaper to keep all students up to date with school news. She is striving to implement Gender Neutral changerooms in her school. She was the Folklorama Youth Ambassador for the Indian Pavilion. She works as a Brand Associate at Old Navy.
She maintains her fitness with running, setting and achieving her goal to run a 10 KM in August 2020. She is working towards her Silver Level Duke of Edinburgh Award, has played Junior Varsity Girls Basketball and in 2022 was Manager of the Varsity Girls Basketball. She achieved her Cadet Excellence Fitness Badge every year and led many fitness activities and tests.
Cadet Vyas is currently attending the University of British Columbia and was not available for the Presentation evening, so her award was presented on August 22, 2022.
