Cadet FSgt DeVos plans to become an engineer. He will start on that path by studying Petroleum Systems Engineering at the University of Regina. The university has a co-op program that will allow him to do some hands-on work while earning a salary.
He has attended several summer training camps including General Training, Basic Survival and Basic Aviation. During the summer of2014 he was employed as a staff cadet. He has had several opportunities to lead junior cadets and enjoys challenging himself.
Within his high school, he has been a peer mentor in complex subjects such as physics, calculus, biology and chemistry. He played basketball at school and was the team captain. He also got a lot of exercise doing farm chores after school.
He has attended Remembrance Day Services for several years and assisted the Legion during their annual poppy campaign. His other volunteer activities include the participation in the Salvation Army's Kettle Drive and the MS Society's Bike Tour in Riding Mountain National Park. He has organized a food drive within his hometown for the past three years.
