Cadet CPO1 Connor Desautels will be attending the University of Manitoba, Asper School of Business in a Bachelor of Commence program with the aim of becoming an Accountant. University will allow him to gain a wider appreciation for other business disciplines and potentially explore other interests, work in a co-op program and become a more well-rounded and knowledgeable person.
In Cadets he has received the Award of Merit - 2024, Navy League of Canada Award of Excellence - 2024, Four-year service medal - 2023, Lord Strathcona medal - 2023, Cadet of the Year - 2022-2023, Junior Sea Cadet of the Year - 2020-2021 and has achieved the Silver athletic level (Cadets) - 2019 to present.
He performs various duties at John Black Memorial United Church, was a Group leader at United Church of Canada weekend retreat (Fall 2024) and participated at the Remembrance Day Ceremony at Collège Miles Macdonell Collegiate. He has volunteered for the Charleswood Legion Poppy drive - 2024, Salvation Army Kettle Campaign - 2024, Festival du Voyageur volunteer - 2025, and the Manitoba Highland Gathering - June 2023 and June 2024.
As the Corps' coxswain he plans, teaches, organizes, and leads events, weekly, monthly and annually. He has Canadian Lifesaving Society - Bronze Cross and Bronze Medallion - July 2021 is a member of the College Miles Macdonell Collegiate curling team (2021 - 2025), member of the Fort Garry men's curling team and participates in the Cadet bi-annual physical fitness tests.
