Cadet WO1 Hailey Anne Nagtalon is a first-year student at the University of Manitoba pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and a minor in Political Science, her final intent being to attend law school. She believes that the University of Manitoba will lay a strong foundation steering into her career and provide a plethora of fieldwork experiences that will provide her with real-world perspectives on the court system.
She has been competing in the Effective Speaking Program for six years receiving a third-place bronze medal in 2021, the second-place silver medal in 2022 and again in 2024 at the provincial competition. She has received the top Cadet award as well as the top instructor award. She received the Andrew Mynarski shield for outstanding Cadet leadership. She has received a second bar on her long service level which recognizes 6 years as a Cadet. As a Cadet Correspondent she has written numerous articles; many of which have been published in local and national news outlets.
She has volunteered at her high school athletic program, was a judge for debate competitions, and worked with the Special Education Olympics team.
As her Squadron WO1 she leads by example, striving to develop a positive and motivating environment. Through active communication, she ensures that all Cadets are aligned with the mission at hand while promoting a culture of respect, discipline, and teamwork.
